Kid’s Culinary Class

The Wildwood Park District and Grandwood Park Park District are partnering together to offer children ages 7-12 years a six-week culinary class to help kids gain knowledge and important skills in the kitchen! Your little chef in training will make an exciting new recipe each week, exploring the best of both worlds as we incorporate cooking and baking recipes. Kids will learn practical life skills such as measuring, knife skills and safety, how to set the table, food literacy, independence, and confidence in this fun and delicious class! Make sure kids come hungry as they’ll be enjoying their creations when done! The class will be taught by Christina Marquez, owner of Twisted Sifter’s Baked Goods. *Food Allergy Disclaimer: this class is not food allergy friendly.

•Week 1: Mini Frittatas and Fruit Salad- these frittatas are packed with veggies, cheese, and fluffy eggs, and paired perfectly with a healthy fruit salad.
•Week 2: Sliders and Pasta Salad- children will make the perfect kid-sized ham and swiss slid- ers with a delicious Italian rotini pasta salad side dish!
•Week 3: Bean and Cheese Tostadas- Mexican night! Kids will load their tortillas with yummy taco toppings and then bake until crispy and warm.
•Week 4: Lunch Kebabs and Fruit Kebabs- kid-friendly lunch kebabs are filled with savory meats, cheese, and fresh veggies, with healthy fruit kebabs as a side.
•Week 5: Cupcakes- measure, mix, bake, and decorate! Kids will also learn the basics of piping frosting!
•Week 6: Pasta and Homemade Garlic Bread- for the final class, students can invite up to two guests who they will showcase their new cooking skills for! Kids will cook, set the table, serve, and share this special meal with their guests.
